The three day intro course is a great introduction to canyoneering and thoroughly prepares you with fundamental skills needed to be a safe and proficient canyoneer. No prior experience is needed but experience climbing or rappelling is helpful.

This course prepares you for beginner and intermediate canyons up to 3B III in difficulty, such as: Keyhole, Subway, Orderville, Mystery, Pine Creek, Behunin, Spry, and Fat Man’s Misery. This course gives you the opportunity to increase your knowledge and experience as a result of traveling through 2-3 canyons with a guide and receiving practical hands on instruction.

three day basic

Meet your guide at your specified time, stated in your confirmation email, at our Store Location in the center of Springdale, UT. If you do not have any personal equipment, your guide will outfit you with the necessary technical equipment.

Depending on the size of your group, you will either get in one of our guide vehicles or your larger group will follow your guide/s out to one of our various Canyons for the day.

Each day you will be descending a different canyon in order to learn and practice the requisite course material. Day 1 is geared toward more teaching and learning necessary skills and techniques. The following 2 Days will be geared to applying this knowledge in the larger canyons and getting more practice and repetition of basic skills.

Springdale, UT Getting Here

Springdale, UT is located in the heart of Zion Canyon. ZMS is located in the heart of Springdale, UT.

  • 2.5 Hours to Vegas (We are an hour ahead of Vegas)
  • 4.5 Hours from Salt Lake City
  • 45 minutes from Saint George, UT

FLIGHTS

Best option is to fly into Vegas, NV,  and either drive or hire a shuttle to drop you off in Springdale, UT.

TOWN & PARK SHUTTLE SYSTEM

Both the town of Springdale and Zion National Park offer free propane powered shuttle systems that can drop you off in town or at any spot in the main canyon. This enables you to travel to the area without need of renting a car.
